Never Fear, AI is here: How AI Helps Manual Testers Become SDETs (And SDETs become Rock Stars)

Paul Grossman, SDET and Automation Project Manager

October Presentation . . .

Paul shares how his eyes were opened to the advantages of Generative AI tools. This session will look at three ways AI helps at multiple levels of the testing process. For those who write test cases AI can suggest good tests cases with the right prompt. Manual testers can see how AI in a codeless platform can bridge the leap to becoming an SDET without learning CSS or xPath. This will include several tips on writing robust locators when making the transition. Developers will learn how AI can help add self-healing code to make their frameworks more robust. We will also cover a few tips to make development much easier. Lastly we will show how to train your own AI to be better at what it does.

This session comes with live demos and we will be taking requests.

Takeaways:
· Which is better, xPath or CSS and why?
· How to train Claude to be better at what it does and remember.
· Self-healing code examples. Which language? Let ChatGPT translate.
· Good developers document code. Great ones let CoPilot do it.
· AI Driven Codeless Text Parsers. See it first, then make an informed decision.

As a special nod to Microsoft, Paul shares a Windows secret CTRL-C / CTRL-V demo that most people don't know about. If nothing else, attendees walk away with that in their utility belt. aul Grossman is Sales Engineer, Video Producer, and independent consultant for clients of testRigor. September Speaker: Matt Heusser  . . .
Making Sense of the Crowdstrike Incident - For Fun and Profit
Matt Heusser explained how just a few weeks ago, CrowdStrike's extra parameter clobbered memory and brought down systems running airlines, healthcare, government, and others for a day or more. Even one end-to-end test surely would have caught it!! But no!!! To their credit, CrowdStrike did acknowledge and explain their defect, albeit with some obfuscation. Please see the Calendar for the recording of this and other presentations.
