BDD, From Discovery to Test Automation,
Making Cucumber Work

Speakers: Laurent Py: SmartBear Vice President, Products
Dermot Canniffe, Justin Kim: SmartBear Solutions Engineers

Wednesday May 13, 2020

Behavior-driven Development (BDD) is rising in popularity amongst startups and enterprises alike, but so is confusion around what BDD actually is and isn't, and what's required for it to be successful and to deliver ROI to your business. SmartBear VP of Products, Laurent Py, and Solution Engineers Dermot Canniffe and Justin Kim will share how BDD meets current business demands, as well as insights from organizations who've launched and scaled successful BDD initiatives. Attendees will also learn how Cucumber and CucumberStudio:

  • Bridges the gap between business and technical stakeholders
  • Delivers living documentation readable and executable by all teams
  • Increases visibility into testing activity and results with analytics built for modern agile organizations

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month from September through June, under normal circumstances at the offices of RSA, 174 Middlesex Turnpike, Bedford, MA 01730. We want to serve our members as best we can and intend to resume in-person meetings when the CoVid-19 danger subsides. Sorry, we don't know how to distribute free Flatbread pizza through an internet connection.

Seats are limited. Register at [this meeting was held on Zoom] to receive the login link.

SQGNE helps you improve your job and career performance. Attending monthly meetings, reading and posting on the SQGNE LinkedIn Group, and volunteering in various SQGNE capacities all contribute to your benefit. Extra thanks to Mike Arnold for arranging our Zoom online presentation capabilities and to Bill Basinski, Darin Kalashian, and Ann Cultrera for QA assistance. In order to present programs that help you, we need you to recommend monthly presentation topics and hopefully also speakers, including yourself, and annual or meeting sponsors.

Thank you to Darin Kalashian for throwing his hat in the ring to succeed SQGNE President Stan Wrobel, who absolutely is stepping down after graciously continuing an extra year as Interim President. WE STILL NEED A Clerk to succeed NaiYing Weigand, who has done a great job moving us to MailChimp! Nominations for all positions are open for elections in June. Please step up yourself, or suggest another member--they and we will forever be in your debt:-) Contact Nominating Committee Chair Ann Cultrera <ann.cultrera@gmail.com>.

SQGNE relies on sponsors like Checkpoint Technologies, RSA, and Flatbread Pizza of Bedford to enable us to continue our 26th season as an educational and networking forum for promoting software quality professionals. We also may need to find a sponsor to host meetings next season, preferably in the Burlington/Bedford area. Please help us identify topics, speakers, and additional sponsors. Contact Robin Goldsmith at robin@gopromanagement.com.

SQGNE is beginning to offer additional education and training, including upcoming sessions for “CSQE Prep” and “A Practitioner’s Guide To Agile/Scrum Software Development”. Please contact Darin Kalashian at seminars@SQGNE.org or darin@dskquality.com to express your interests and get answers to your questions. Look on the SQGNE LinkedIn group for notices of other events of interest.

Please donate software/quality/testing books for upcoming raffles when live meetings resume. We're essentially out of what once seemed a never-ending supply.
