INTERACTIVE PRESENTATION Next Meeting at SQGNE

Write Right Agile User Story Acceptance Tests Right

Speaker:
Robin F. Goldsmith, JD, President of Go Pro Management, Inc.

Wednesday December 11, 2019

Many QA/testing professionals find themselves squeezed out of Agile projects, or mainly just writing user story acceptance tests, which often may be their major role even when still part of the Agile project team. Continued involvement makes it important to do it well. Frankly, though, many Agile project participants report great difficulty writing user stories and especially their acceptance tests.

Learn what use story acceptance tests need to demonstrate and why much of conventional wisdom about them is misleading or distracting. Practice key techniques for testing the right things and applying proven QA/testing concepts.

  • Why so many user story acceptance tests fail as tests.
  • Write acceptance tests to truly demonstrate their user stories have been met.
  • Go beyond the superficial Given-When-Then format to address key content.

SQGNE helps you improve your job and career performance. Attending monthly meetings, reading and posting on the SQGNE LinkedIn Group, and volunteering in various SQGNE capacities (like Stan, Jim, and Naiying) all contribute to your benefit. So too does additional education and training, which SQGNE is beginning to offer. Look for more info soon about January sessions for, “A Practitioner's Guide To Agile/Scrum Software Development.” In the meantime, please contact Darin Kalashian at seminars@SQGNE.org to express your interests and get answers to your questions.

You can help too by recommending monthly presentation topics and speakers, including yourself, and annual or meeting sponsors. SQGNE relies on sponsors like Checkpoint Technologies, RSA, and Flatbread Pizza of Bedford to enable us to continue our 26th season as an educational and networking forum for promoting software quality professionals. Please help us identify additional sponsors. Contact Robin Goldsmith at robin@gopromanagement.com.

Please donate software/quality/testing books for upcoming raffles at meetings. We're essentially out of what once seemed a never-ending supply. Thanks!
